Ramona Maharaj of the City of Hamilton is hard at work completing her advanced degree in English near Fort Lauderdale, where she lives. Maharaj attends Florida Atlantic University in nearby Boca Raton and teaches English 101 students as a part of her student work for aid program. Maharaj has enjoyed her time so far in the English department of FAU. She plans to teach English at the university level when she completes her advanced degree and write fiction and non-fiction. Here are a few of the benefits of completing an advanced degree, in Maharaj’s opinion:
Personal growth. Graduate programs give people a chance to continue developing their mind in a structured way. For lifelong learners, a graduate school education helps people develop their learning abilities and add to their personal growth overall.
Employment opportunities. People entering the workforce in all industries with graduate degrees earn much more on average than those with undergraduate degrees. By gaining additional training and education in their field of choice, those with graduate degrees can boost their career opportunities.
Career advancement. For those already in a rewarding career, earning a graduate degree can help them advance. Earning a graduate degree shows that you have determination and intellectual skill, prerequisites for directorship and manager positions at almost any company or organization.
Ramona Maharaj moved from the City of Hamilton to Fort Lauderdale to continue her education in English. She wants to be a professional writer and professor one day, and she feels that earning a graduate degree in English is the best way to accomplish her goals.
