Ramona Maharaj from the City of Hamilton – Must-See in Fort Lauderdale – The Museum of Art

Ramona Maharaj from the City of Hamilton is a recent transplant to the Fort Lauderdale area and is still experiencing all the city has to offer. With an endless variety of attractions, it can be difficult to see everything with working as a teacher. On her weekends, Ramona Maharaj from the City of Hamilton loves to see something new each day, while still making time to get some sun. One of the places she has been wanting to visit is the Museum of Art.

The Museum of Art located in Fort Lauderdale has been drawing in art lovers since it was founded in 1958. The building it is housed in was designed by Edward Larrabee Barnes and is architecturally breathtaking. Inside there are over 6,000 working in the permanent collection alone, many which reflect the vibrant Caribbean and South Floridian cultures of the area. There are works by William Glackens who was an American painter, ceramics by Picasso, and contemporary designs by over 90 exiled Cuban artists.

The museum also has a wide variety of temporary exhibits. The schedule for these can be found on their website. Even if you aren’t the biggest art lover of all time, there are wine tastings, tours, films, lectures, family activities, and more that are a must see at the Museum of Art.

Don’t forget to stop in the gift shop on the way out to purchase something special to remember your visit. Seeing The Museum of Art is a great choice when visiting Fort Lauderdale, where you can be entertained, educated and escape from the sun. Ramona Maharaj from the City of Hamilton has yet to visit the Museum of Art but hopes to get there soon.
